Thousands of mourners fill football stadium in Arizona to honor Charlie Kirk
(MENAFN) A massive crowd filled a football stadium in Glendale, Arizona, on Sunday to commemorate Charlie Kirk, the 31-year-old co-founder and executive director of Turning Point USA, who was killed at a university in Utah 11 days earlier.
The memorial combined elements of religious worship, passionate political messages, and deeply personal tributes. Figures including President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and other senior officials from Trump’s administration addressed the gathering, pledging that Kirk’s legacy would continue to grow despite his assassination.
The service highlighted the intertwined character of Kirk’s movement, blending evangelical Christian faith with political activism that helped energize the Make America Great Again (MAGA) campaign on college campuses.
Erika Kirk, now serving as the CEO of Turning Point USA, surprised mourners by extending forgiveness to her husband’s alleged killer.
“My husband, Charlie, he wanted to save young men just like the one who took his life,” she told the audience with emotion. “That young man, I forgive him.” She followed with a passage from the Bible: “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.”
Erika spoke about her marriage to Charlie, describing a life of faith and devotion marked by weekly love letters. She encouraged men to “embrace true manhood” and to “be strong and courageous for your families.”
Although she acknowledged the grief of seeing her husband’s work unfinished, she promised to continue and expand the mission he had begun.
