Pentagon warns press of losing access for publishing ‘unauthorized information’

(MENAFN) The Pentagon has warned the journalists if they don’t agree on not releasing Uncertified information, they could lose the right to enter the building.

The move was one of the new constraints, which also strive to impose restrictions on the movement of reporters within the establishment, which is home to the Department of War, previously called the Department of Defense.

It came after a chain of leaks in latest months.

The new Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth, stated on social media platform "the 'press' does not run the Pentagon — the people do. The press is no longer allowed to roam the halls of a secure facility. Wear a badge and follow the rules — or go home."

The fresh limitations were laid out in a memo mailed to employees of the press, which they have to ink for the purpose of keeping their Pentagon press authorizations.

It "remains committed to transparency to promote accountability and public trust" the department stated.
