White House Clarifies Trump’s Limb Changes
In a statement released on Thursday, Dr. Sean P. Barbabella revealed that Trump has been diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency, a condition he characterized as “benign” and commonly seen in individuals over 70 years old.
The 79-year-old president was observed recently with leg swelling, which Dr. Barbabella attributed to this condition.
Chronic venous insufficiency is generally linked to aging and involves the improper functioning of one-way valves within the veins, which play a crucial role in returning blood back to the heart.
The legs are often the primary area affected since the veins there must combat gravity more intensely.
Those who spend long hours standing are at increased risk of developing this disorder.
The memo also stated that there were no indications of more serious vascular problems, such as deep vein thrombosis.
Furthermore, Dr. Barbabella clarified that the recurring bruises on the back of Trump’s right hand were caused by “soft tissue irritation from frequent handshaking” and the use of preventive aspirin.
