Trump Says Gaza Ceasefire Deal with Hamas Likely This Week
"I think there's a good chance we have a deal with Hamas during the week pertaining to quite a few of the hostages…We've gotten a lot of the hostages out, but pertaining to the remaining hostages, quite a few of them will be coming out. We think we'll have that done this week," Trump told reporters in Morristown, New Jersey.
The comments came just ahead of Trump’s scheduled meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House on Monday.
When asked about the message he plans to convey to Netanyahu, Trump said: "We're working on a lot of things with Israel, and one of the things is probably a permanent deal with Iran."
Netanyahu departed Tel Aviv on Sunday en route to Washington, DC, where he will hold discussions with Trump centered on regional security matters, including a potential ceasefire in Gaza and a possible prisoner exchange with Hamas.
This marks Netanyahu’s third visit to the United States in the past six months. During his trip, he is also expected to engage with high-ranking members of the U.S. administration and senior lawmakers from both major parties, according to media.
