Russia Says Israel-Iran Conflict Escalates at Staggering Pace
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, speaking to the state-controlled Tass news agency, said, “The situation of the conflict between Israel and Iran is on the path of galloping escalation; the level of its unpredictability is absolute.” He stressed Moscow’s call for “maximum restraint” from both sides to pave the way toward a peaceful settlement.
Tensions have sharply risen since Friday after Israeli airstrikes targeted multiple sites in Iran, including military and nuclear facilities. These attacks sparked a wave of retaliatory missile strikes from Tehran.
Israeli authorities reported that Iranian missile attacks have killed at least 24 people and wounded hundreds. Meanwhile, Iran claimed the Israeli airstrikes resulted in at least 224 deaths and over 1,000 injuries.
With diplomatic ties to both countries, Russia has frequently offered to act as a mediator amid the volatile standoff.
