Musk takes off Trump-Epstein post

(MENAFN) Elon Musk has removed a controversial post from his X account in which he claimed that U.S. President Donald Trump's name appeared in sealed documents related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Musk implied that this alleged connection was the true reason the files have not been fully released.

In the now-deleted post, Musk wrote: “Time to drop the really big bomb: @realDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT! Mark this post for the future. The truth will come out.” He also agreed with a separate post suggesting that Trump should be impeached and Vice President JD Vance should take his place—an endorsement that has also since been deleted.

Musk has not publicly addressed the deletions. These posts mark a new escalation in an ongoing conflict between the Tesla and SpaceX CEO and President Trump. Musk, once a vocal Trump supporter who donated over $260 million to pro-Trump causes and was appointed to co-lead the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) in January, resigned from the role last week.

Their falling out began when Musk criticized Trump’s $2.4 trillion tax bill, calling it a “disgusting abomination.” Trump retaliated by threatening to revoke federal contracts held by Musk’s companies. The dispute soon devolved into personal attacks on social media. Musk accused Trump of being ungrateful and warned he could cripple the U.S. space program by grounding SpaceX’s Dragon spacecraft. Trump countered by saying Musk had “gone crazy” and was bitter over losing the electric vehicle mandate.

The public feud has also impacted the financial markets. Tesla’s stock plunged by 14.2%, wiping out roughly $152 billion in market value, while Trump Media shares dropped 8%.

Trump has previously promised to fully declassify the Epstein files. In February, U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi announced the initial release of some documents, but crucial details—such as flight logs and client lists—remain sealed, prompting ongoing speculation.

Jeffrey Epstein, a financier with extensive ties to influential figures, was arrested in 2019 on charges of sex trafficking minors. He died in jail under controversial circumstances, officially ruled a suicide, though doubts and conspiracy theories persist.
