Media reports third French spy found deceased under vague conditions
According to reports from Le Parisien and Actu17, the officer died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head using his service weapon. A farewell letter was found at his home, which his wife alerted authorities about, leading to a search by colleagues that uncovered his body inside the vehicle.
While the contents of the note have not been publicly released, it reportedly expressed his intention to take his own life. The local prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation into the death, with the DGSI’s internal inspection unit overseeing the case.
This incident marks the third suspected suicide of a DGSI officer within five months. In January, one officer took his life under similar circumstances in the agency’s basement, while two days earlier, another officer died by suicide at home, reportedly due to personal reasons unrelated to work.
No official statements have been released by the French Interior Ministry or the DGSI. According to Actu17, this latest case raises the total number of suicides within France’s national police force to ten since the start of the year.
