South African President Plans Talks at G7 Summit

(MENAFN) South African Leader Cyril Ramaphosa announced on Tuesday his intention to engage in bilateral discussions with fellow world leaders during the upcoming Group of Seven (G7) summit in Canada.

Addressing the press in Pretoria, Ramaphosa revealed plans to hold meetings with United States President Donald Trump, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, and Canadian Premier Mark Carney. He expressed optimism that these interactions would produce “good outcomes.”

“I am going there to have bilaterals with the Chancellor of Germany, the prime minister of Canada, and of course, I will also be meeting President Trump, who we met at the White House,” Ramaphosa stated.

He emphasized that the summit would serve as a platform to start solidifying goals for the forthcoming G20 Leaders’ Summit, scheduled to take place in South Africa this November.

He hopes to engage in meaningful exchanges with various leaders attending the G7 gathering.

Additionally, Ramaphosa reaffirmed the success of his recent meeting with President Trump in Washington, DC, highlighting that South Africa and the US are resetting their relationship with a renewed emphasis on trade amidst the “turbulent geopolitical architecture.”
